Define: Petiks na Agent

Petiks - verb - meaning to slack of, to procrastinate, to sleep, to unwind, to day dream, to relax.

Agent - noun - someone working and mostly talks to sell something or to organize something.

Put them together and what do you get? A very very nice blog... eh? eh? hehehehe.

So there, I've defined what the blog title is. So I'm a procrastinating call center agent that doesn't give a damn to what everyone thinks about a call center job. It pays well and I get to hang out with a diverse selection of really cool and smart people... and oh I get to go to work everyday too and do stuff on the phone :)

I'm a call center agent and am damn proud about it. Itaas mo pre!

Call Avoidance

Call Avoidance

The comic above is a True Story.  I kid you not.

This is a typical day in a call center, konti pa nga yang 150 calls! Would you believe that calls can queue up to 500 waiting? That usually happens to a global call center... take the Dell account for example or any global customer services desk.

And imagine how much saliva those call center agents spits out on their headsets while answering all those calls... disgusting right?!?! Eeeeeww... the horror! *chills on my spine*

Anyway, what happened in the comic DOES NOT happen often in every call center. That agent who did that may have gotten away with it at that time, but I assure you if he did it again, he would have lost that job.

But he's my hero for getting away with it. Oh I miss that bastard!

He could have been caught by that Workforce manager, by his manager, his teammates(but I'm sure they would have knelt before him and worshiped him), or anyone from the management team.

Call Avoidance in a call center is a big Sin, a huge crime, punishable by DEATH... hahaha I kid, I kid. By death I mean termination of your job.

So if you're in a call center and there's like 1 million calls waiting... just breathe in and breathe out... release some calls but be discreet.. Okey? Hehehehe.

Just relax and you should be able to answer most of them... don't worry too much, you have your teammates to help you.

And again, be discreet my brotha!

This always happens...

You blink and then you have to go to work again... What the f#$!#@!$@#!

We really don't have weekends like normal people do. So what are we really? We work at night, we're bilingual, we're mostly pale, we hate the sun, we sleep in the morning... aha! I knew it... we're one of the Cullens, less the sparkling thingy... then again, there's always the call center fairies :)

Define:
Call Center Fairies a.k.a Call Center Beckys (Gay)

They never go out at night without makeups... hence they sparkle at night. Hehehehe

Rest Day

Dammmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmit! Bat ako gising... wala naman akong pasok?!?!

Rest day was supposed to be my time to sleep during the night. But NO! the universe said "No! No call center agent should sleep at night... ever! Bwahahahaha"

The universe is such a big fat meanie!

And what do we do in this kind of "insomnia-like" situations you ask? Well, we catch up with friends on Facebook, the ones who are sleeping, or we catch up on our favorite series marathon (note to self - Download the latest Walking Dead season), or we eat, we drink coffee and me... I blog.

So cheers to all you madapakers who are spending your rest day on the internet or on the TV or in the kitchen in the middle of the night when everybody else is sound asleep. Cheers! pak dis sheet!

Technical Support

Being a technical support for 6 years now, I have had the "pleasure" of hearing a lot of the most ridiculous, funny, kaasar and weird customer idiocy there is.

It's a given, if you're a tech support in a call center, you should always be more intelligent than the one calling in. But if your customer sends you a picture of their monitor using their phone when you ask them to take a screenshot (Print Screen) of the error (True Story)... then your intelligence might not help at all.

How to survive such calls from such customers you ask? It's the most cliched word you'll ever hear from a call center agent... PATIENCE.

It's a virtue we try to practice, some practice it very well and some (like me) don't. So if you're a VERY VERY patient person then the call center world is for you my friend! Goodluck, you'll gonna need it.
